Preface

T-POG — The Po Blog — is the flip side of T-GOP — 'The Great Onward Press' — the actual site that features all the fascinating book excerpts. POG or GOP, no confusion though, for it is all the same. The world goes round and round, and left is right, and right is left, but do not be left behind, press right on. That is the idea — regardless and irregardless — press onward. Just PO!

‘PO’ is an interesting term. The entry in the Wikipedia for it begins thus:

A 'Po' is an idea which moves thinking forward to a new place from where new ideas or solutions may be found. The term was created by Edward de Bono as part of a lateral thinking technique to suggest forward movement, that is, making a statement and seeing where it leads to. It is an extraction from words such as hypothesis, suppose, possible and poetry, all of which indicate forward movement and contain the syllable 'po'. Po can be taken to refer to any of the following — provoking operation, provocative operation or provocation operation. Also, in ancient Polynesian and the Maori, the word 'po' refers to the original chaotic state of formlessness, from which evolution occurred.

Think of it this way, T-POG is the code name for an operation to provoke your thinking. In each article entry here in The Great Onward Press— and there are many — we give you a power passage, an extra-impact extract, gleaned by our excerpt expert — (hey, that’s me!) — by going through hundreds of great books. Each one is making a ‘statement’, a brief testimony of man’s relentless search for meaning and truth, each in its own way. Read them, mull over, and it is up to you to see where these passages lead your mind. Thought leads to knowledge and knowledge leads to thought, thought and knowledge become power which leads to action. And action creates. Life progresses. We tread on this colossal passage spanning space and time: towards a higher awareness and greater being.

From the chaotic state of formlessness evolves form and order. Let's learn and evolve, and let there be no limits to the reach of our thought — even as we press onward. And onward and onward. Towards distant horizons. Even unto the edge of infinity. This great onward press began long back, actually, a long long way back in time. Our journey began not just with our birth, not even at the birth of humanity, not even at the creation of the earth, but at the very beginning of the universe, that is, if the universe really had any beginning, to begin with. And we have to go a long way ahead, far far into space. We have to reach the stars, and beyond, in search of our God, in search of our Truth.

This is the story of all life, evolution. Dog becomes God! But there is more, because God too becomes dog, this is creation. To what purpose, this whole cosmic drama? — you may wonder. What is the meaning of it all? Well, let’s say tentatively, it all is just great fun. Perhaps nothing more, nothing less. For now we may well bear in mind that every dog has the possibility of becoming a god, and every doggone human life has the possibility of turning into something divine one day — we just have to keep pressing onward, just PO! All in the spirit of fun, really! Pure and simple.
